Catholic News Service Vatican Letter

Year of two pope leaves indelible mark on Year of Faith.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — The goal of the Year of Faith, which concludes Nov. 24, has been to educate Catholics about basic church teachings, strengthen their faith and inspire them to share it with others. If it has succeeded, as organizers say it has, the credit ultimately lies less with its special projects and events than with the historic papal transition that occurred in its course.

Where have you been, Concho Padre?

Sorry folks, but I have had some health issues to deal with, which sort of kept me from posting a lot. Basically I got tired earlier in the day, and rested. Hopefully this will all be resolved soon. Nothing serious … just bothersome. Keep me in your prayers, please!
I will try to post as often as I can.

The Concho Padre

Veterans Day Prayer

Father in heaven, we ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women who are coming home from current conflicts with injured bodies and traumatized spirits. Bring solace to them, O Lord; may we pray for them when they cannot pray. We ask for, echoing Blessed Pope John Paul II, an end to wars and the dawning of a new era of peace as a way to honor all the veterans of past wars.

Have mercy on and bless all our veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in non-combative posts; May their calling to service continue in their lives in many positive ways.

Give us all the creative vision to see a world which, grown weary with fighting, moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. Hear our prayer, O Prince of Peace, hear our prayer. Amen.
